This is not just a slice of bacon, this honey jalapeño barbecue bacon is a sweet and savory, mouth watering addition to any meal!
This would be great with brunch, on a burger or even served by itself as a delicious appetizer!
Some of you may remember that Denny’s used to serve their version of this recipe and it was a best seller! You can’t get it there anymore, but the good news is, is that you can recreate it at home in your pajamas now!
One pound of bacon does not cut it for us in my house with five guys, so I have to double or even triple this recipe when I make it! But who am I kidding, its not just the guys eating this bacon. 😍
What you need to make Honey Jalapeño BBQ Bacon:
Bacon- regular or thick cut
Brown sugar
BBQ rub- any rub you have on hand will work.
Honey
Chopped jalapeños- I used fresh but you can used pickled
Baking sheet
Cooling rack
Aluminum foil
How to make this Honey Jalapeno Bacon:
This delicious bacon recipe is so simple to put together, let me walk you through it!
– Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
– Prepare your baking sheet by lining it will aluminum foil and place the cooling rack on top. This makes for a much easier cleanup.
– Chop Jalapeno peppers into small pieces.
– Open the package of bacon and lay each piece out onto your cooling rack.
– Mix your bbq rub with the brown sugar in a medium bowl and rub both sides of the bacon down with the brown sugar mixture.
– Put in the oven and bake for 15 minutes.
– Take out of the oven and drizzle the strips of bacon with honey.
– Sprinkle the chopped fresh peppers over the bacon.
– Put back in the oven for 3-5 minutes or until carmelized. Watch closely so it does not burn!
– Carefully take bacon off of baking sheet and cool on some parchment paper so it doesn’t stick to cooling rack.
Tips for Making this Honey Barbecue Jalapeno Bacon!
* If you like your bacon a little more crispy you can cook it a few minutes longer. You can also cook it in the air fryer.
* You can use regular or thick cut bacon, depending on the kind of bacon you use, just remember to adjust the cook time.
* I used a BBQ grilling rub to add a little bit of a BBQ flavor, but that is optional.
* These bacon strips can be cut up into half’s or quarters and served in a bowl as sweet and savory bacon melts.
