I will show you exactly how to make this easy homemade elderberry syrup recipe that will give you and your family the immune boost that you need.
This elderberry syrup is a must have in our house all year long, but especially during cold and flu season to keep our immune systems strong and healthy!
When I first learned of all the health benefits of Elderberries I started buying a syrup like this for our family. But that got expensive fast, since there are a lot of us. I decided to look up some recipes and try making it myself and was pleasantly surprised that is was very simple and a lot less expensive to do myself!
I’m always happy when I can make something from scratch because I know exactly what is in it and where everything came from.
I will warn you, this will smell up your entire house. To me it almost has a vinegar like smell. I personally don’t mind the smell but it’s not my husbands favorite and he can always tell when he gets home from work that I made a batch that day. Lol

I ordered dried organic Elderberries from Amazon and had them in just a couple of days. I like to use raw LOCAL honey if possible just for the extra health benefits that come with that. The other ingredients you can just get at your local grocery store.
How to make this Easy Homemade Elderberry Syrup Recipe
First you want to Boil your water, berries and spices all together in a medium size pan on the stove.
Boil on medium for about 30 min or until it is reduced to about half.
Let cool for a few minutes.
Next, you will strain the liquid from the berries into a bowl using a small strainer or you can use a cheese cloth if you don’t have a strainer . I have a mesh one that I use for this.
Make sure to press all of that liquid out with a spatula or a wooden spoon.
Next, you want to mix the raw honey into your juice mixture. The honey sweetens the syrup and gives it a yummy taste but also has lots of healthy benefits as well.
You can discard the berries after you have strained them or you can actually re use them and make yourself some tea. Simply toss them and the spices back into the pan and boil them in some water and then strain again and you can enjoy a nice cup of elderberry tea
My kiddos love the taste of this syrup and ask to take it all the time which I definitely don’t complain about!
We take about a Tablespoon a day unless we feel like we are sick or on the brink of being sick then we will double or triple that dose everyday until we start feeling better.
Store in an airtight container or jar in your fridge for up to 2 months.

We LOOOOVE having elderberry syrup in the house! One time when we were sick, we treated ourself to lots of it on pancakes and it was DELICIOUS!
I love how simple this is! I’ve always bought elderberry from a store and it gets costly. This is so much more cost effective, and special because its homemade!
